It’s Girl Scout Cookie Season And Here’s Where To Find Them In North And South Carolina
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. And yes, this time I’m talking about Girl Scout cookie season. It’s a tradition like no other. And, we look forward to it all year. But, if you don’t happen to know a Girl Scout personally you might wonder how to get your craving satisfied. Well, it’s Girl Scout cookie season and here’s where to find them in North and South Carolina.
So, like everything else, through the years the way we order Girl Scout cookies changes. Once upon a time friends of friends who had kids in the program hit you up for orders. I remember co-workers bringing around sign up sheets to the office. And, not too long ago one in particular just posted the sheet on his office door to take orders for his daughter. I always bought at least 2 or 3 boxes. Or, there was the occasional knock on your door from neighborhood families. I always welcomed it. Plus, if you were lucky there was a stand set up outside your grocery store. However, we have many more options now.
According to Charlotte On The Cheap, the ‘Hornets’ Nest Council’ covers the Charlotte region of North Carolina. And, they start picking up orders January 19. So, how do we go about ordering online? That process starts February 16. The website is girlscoutcookies.org. There’s a search box labeled ‘Find Cookies’ for your convenience. Or, if you prefer to look for a booth to get your Girl Scout cookies in person you’re in luck. There’s a place to enter your zip code to locate booths and times of operation.
Furthermore, there’s even an app to assist in your search. And, if that’s not enough simply text the word ‘COOKIES’ to 59618 to assist in your hunt! And, no matter where you are in North or South Carolina it’s just that simple. We put the New Year’s resolution on temporary hold to indulge a little.
And, as a coconut, chocolate and caramel lover I can’t resist the Samoa or Caramel deLite, as it may be called in your region. Plus, the classic shortbread Trefoils steal my heart every time. But, how did it all begin? Well, the Girl Scout website says the cookies were originally baked by members with moms in the 1910s. The sale financed troop activities as early as 1917. This was shortly after the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma sold them in the high school cafeteria as part of a service project. And, I’m so glad they did.
