Luxury Men’s Grooming And Cocktail Spot Now Open In Charlotte
Okay, I may have to walk back one of my biggest and loudest tenets in life. I am anti-spa. Once upon a time while working at a radio station in Birmingham, Alabama, I was ‘treated’ to a full day of luxury at a new spa opening up. A massage, manicure, pedicure, etc., you know, the works, I did it all. I was in Hell. First off, I could not have felt more uncomfortable in a place anywhere at any time. It was OBVIOUSLY set up to appeal to women. All the colors, scents, sounds/music, everything just screamed, “DUDES, GET OUT!” Second, I really am not a fan of people messing with my fingers and feet. It creeps me out.
That being said, on a daily basis I’m in a workspace with two women who fantasize about past and future visits to the spa. That just makes me DOUBLE against it. I’ve been very firm about this. Until now. There is a luxury spot now open with guys in mind that sounds like something I can rally behind. According to MPV Properties, Scissors & Scotch serves a top-shelf experience along with a full cocktail lounge. They provide the grooming experience every man deserves. Scissors & Scotch is now open in the Ally Charlotte Center building, 601 S. Tryon Street, in Uptown Charlotte. This is the franchise’s first location in North Carolina.
NOW, you have my attention. And my opinion of these sorts of things is beginning to waver. Their website further makes a case for my recalibration. We’re not a salon. We’re not a clips joint. We’re not your run-of-the-mill barbershop. We’re everything you want your haircut to be, and then some. The Scissors & Scotch experience offers a complimentary cocktail, coffee, or cold one with every haircut, plus a full-service bar and lounge, because we know you’ll be ready for round two.
They offer a couple of different package experiences. The aptly named, “Ten” and “Fifteen” year (get it? the ‘Scotch’ is in the name!) both promise a WHOLE lot more than your basic trim and dash. And both are reasonably priced for sure ($49/$69). I’m gonna be honest though, what’s REALLY got me intrigued is the shaving service detailed in the video below. Are you kidding me? There’s not a guy alive who loves to shave. And what’s available in this area at Scotch & Scissors has me screaming, “Yes, please!”
I’ve heard of mom/daughter spa day. I can totally see my son and I heading to this place for a trim, shave and a cocktail or two. And walking away begging for another “spa treatment.”
Scissors & Scotch is open M-F (10-7) Sat (9-5) and Sun (11-5) at 601 S. Tryon Street, in Uptown Charlotte, in the Ally Charlotte Center building
