Asheville North Carolina PIE.ZAA Known For Massive Slices Finally Opening In Charlotte
Any day is a good day for pizza. And, I know lots of folks plan to order a pie for ‘the big game.’ It’s one of the most popular days of the year for pizza deliveries. And, although this particular spot might not be ready in time for that hoopla, we count the days until it is. Asheville, North Carolina based pizza restaurant, PIE.ZAA is opening in Charlotte sometime this month.
Originally, the pizza restaurant with massive slices targeted a late 2023 opening. But now, their website mentions an opening in February. Folks in Asheville, North Carolina rave about PIE.ZAA and their New York style slices that measure at a whopping 12 inches! The pizza itself is a massive 28 inches. And, the popular spot is known for keeping late hours for those cravings, possibly as late as 2 a.m.
So, where is PIE.ZAA opening in Charlotte? The space is at 1440 S. Tryon St. near Wooden Robot. And, when you think about it that’s brilliant. How many times have you been kicking back with some beer at all the local breweries around Charlotte only to get a craving for pizza? And, many of our favorite brew spots only serve snacks, not food. For that, you sometimes have to get a delivery or go elsewhere. But now, just pop in next door for a big ol’ slice at PIE.ZAA.
One of our favorite recent additions to the South End area is Monday Night Brewing because they actually do offer brick oven pizza made on site. Otherwise, there’s great pizzas when you trek a little bit around the area with Blaze and Emmy Squared, which is pretty delicious by the way. But, PIE.ZAA is not like the others.
PIE.ZAA started serving up the massive slices in Asheville in 2020. And, I can’t wait to try them. Friends of ours constantly post about their travels to Asheville and the amazing phenomenon that is PIE.ZAA. Their kids absolutely love it. And, in looking at the menu I can see why.
I’m a sucker for the honey on pizza trend. And, PIE.ZAA offers up the ‘Sweet Caroline Pie’ with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, ricotta, basil pesto and a honey drizzle. Yes, please. So, it’s a safe bet I’ll be one of the first in line when the popular North Carolina pizza spot with massive slices opens in Charlotte.
