‘Walking Dead’ Star Norman Reedus Restaurant Coming To South Carolina

‘The Walking Dead’ has always been a favorite in my house.  My husband especially obsesses over the series, even making sure to never miss discussion shows about the show.  However, in all that time spent with the series, I never realized one of the major stars of the show had his own restaurant chain.  And now, ‘The Walking Dead’ star Norman Reedus is bringing his popular restaurant to South Carolina.

So, Norman Reedus, aka “Daryl,” is co-owner of a popular dining spot with several locations already.  And, the restaurant is Nic and Norman’s.  The spot is a casual speakeasy establishment serving burgers, pizza and even brunch.  But, Reedus is not alone in the venture.  The ‘Nic’ of Nic and Norman’s is Greg Nicotero, who serves as special make up effects supervisor and co-executive producer of the popular series.

And, for those wondering where we can expect Nic and Norman’s, it’s coming to Greenville, South Carolina.  According to The Rock Hill Herald, Greenville folks know the location as formerly occupied by Smoke on the Water.  Smoke on the Water will move in March to a new spot near I-85.  And, as noted in the report, the Norman Reedus restaurant got its start in 2016 in Georgia.  Plus, viewers notice it in scenes in the background on Main Street in ‘Woodbury.’  And, there are locations of Nic and Norman’s in Tennessee and Kentucky.

So, in taking a look at the Nic and Norman’s menu at the original, location my mouth is watering.  There’s a good variety of typical pub food and stick to your ribs fare.  There’s plenty of yummy sounding salads.  And, the starters offer rib tips, pickle fries, brisket nachos, bbq pork sliders and so much more.  There’s a delicious selection of flatbreads.  Then, there’s the burgers a plenty!

I am particularly interested in the ‘Frito Chili Smashburger.’  It’s described as a double smashburger over spicy mayo, house made chili, seared jalapenos, queso and original Fritos!  As a Texan, I just fell in love.  Frito Pie in a burger?!  Yes, please.  Plus, there’s a host of hearty entrees and cocktails galore.

Experts Say These Are The Best New Restaurants In South Carolina

There are new restaurants popping up all the time it seems. All claim to be unique and offer a “new concept”. But in all honesty many times it just the same things over and over again. And with the cost of going out to eat skyrocketing (like everything else in the world), how do you know what’s worth trying? The last thing you want to do is waste money on a below-average or terrible meal out. Well, I’m happy to share with you that two new restaurants in South Carolina were recognized by Southern Living as some of the best new restaurants in the South.

Our friends at Southern Living recently shared with us a list of the South’s Best New Restaurants of 2023! The publication’s expert editors evaluated new restaurants throughout the south. Restaurants were evaluated based on their food ( of course). But also on service, hospitality, and “how the restaurant supports and treats its staff and the wider community.”

The list contains 25 new restaurants across the south including Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas. They even go as far north as Delaware (though I wouldn’t consider that the south). And excitingly two South Carolina restaurants received the honor of being named The South’s Best New Restaurants. One is in historic Charleston on the iconic King Street. The other is in trendy Greenville, which can’t seem to get enough love these days! But don’t worry North Carolina wasn’t left out either with two spots making the list as well.
