North Carolina Aprils Fool’s Day Joke Made Some Mad
A North Carolina April Fool’s day joke made some mad. As a matter of fact, they were off their rockers. And here almost a year after the fact some people won’t laugh at that. Not one bit.
According to the Charlotte Observer, it happened back in 2023 when on April Fool’s Day the storm induced delays were mounting. So passengers were a little uneasy anyway. When this announcement came over their public address system.
Do Not Mess With The Rockers
In a direct quote from charlotteobserver.com “As part of our renovations and to create a more open feel at #CLTairport, we have removed the rocking chairs,” the airport said on Twitter at 10:55 a.m. “Enjoy the open space!” This North Carolina April Fool’s day joke made some mad. People do love their rockers.
Here’s What Happened Next
The reaction was quick and swift and riddled with disgruntlement. One passenger from Raleigh tweeted, “screw that, the rockers are the best part of the airport”. “They are iconic and should be brought back” said another woman. Another man chimed in with “What marketing genius told you to do that, that was part of Charlotte”. Who knew those rockers were so beloved?
North Carolina April Fool’s Day Joke Made Some Mad
After the airport received a few more complaints about the missing chairs a tweet was sent out. They broke the April Fool’s Day news to passengers. “Happy April’s Fool’s Day! Though really worst joke ever. The rocking chairs aren’t going anywhere”. No word on if anyone actually enjoyed that joke.
The History of April Fool’s Day
So, where did April Fool’s Day get it’s start? It was a long time ago with the reform calendar back when Charles the 9th was on the throne. New Years Day was moved and that sent people in a tailspin back then.
It was moved from April 1-January 1. Because their was no digital media back then the January 1 date was not accepted for years. Those who clung to April 1 as New Year’s day were called “fools”. Those people were sent fake party invitations and prank gifts.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport Is The 7th Busiest In The World New Data Shows
Yes, you read that correctly. New data shows that Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the 7th busiest airport, not in the US but worldwide. This data comes from Airports Council International who recently released their yearly rankings. This is based on data from 2022. They actually rank the busiest airports based on a few different metrics this includes lists calculated by the following:
- Passengers (total passengers enplaned and deplaned counting passengers in transit one time)
- International Passengers (total international passengers enplaned and deplaned)
- Cargo (loaded and unloaded freight and mail including transit freight)
- International Freight (international freight loaded and unloaded including transit freight)
- Aircraft Movements (landings and takeoffs)
So which one of these did Charlotte Douglas International Airport rank 7th in? The last one – aircraft movements. This is actually down two spots from 2021 when CLT ranked 5th. In 2022 505,589 flights took off or landed in Charlotte. That’s a lot of planes. I was on a few of them but nowhere near that amount! One thing I found interesting about this data is that for both total passengers as well as aircraft movements these lists are very top-heavy with US cities. Atlanta took both of those titles. This confirms that while that drive to Atlanta from Charlotte is terrible, it’s probably better than flying! Does it surprise you that Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the 7th busiest in the world?
