Shark Attacks Teen At North Carolina Beach
We haven’t even made it to July and all off the sudden its shaping up to be a bizarre summer when it comes to doing beach things on the coast of North Carolina. I mean yesterday we told you about that bizarre boat-running-aground-at-Atlantic-Beach story. Now, there’s been a teen shark attack at Topsail Beach.
Where And When Did This Teen Shark Attack Take Place?
It’s said that the majority of shark attacks take place not in the deeper depths of the ocean, but rather in water waist deep. This was indeed the case on Saturday on Topsail Beach as a 14-year-old boy from West Virginia was swimming near Beach Access 4 at around lunch time. A friend was swimming with the boy and then ran back to shore. It was at this point that the shark suddenly bit the remaining swimmer twice on the leg an ankle.
What’s The Condition Of The Teen Shark Attack Victim?
The boy was immediately pulled from the water by fellow summer beach fun enthusiasts who applied pressure via beach towels to his wounds. The boy was then taken for treatment to Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital. Luckily for the boy, professional help was not far away. North Topsail Police tell WSOC-TV EMS was nearby on an unrelated call, “So, people started waving down the policeman, who ran out and they told EMS to come on out, “So you had about a 2-minute response out to him, which was great. Bystanders were already putting a towel on there and applying pressure, which is what you should do.” No doubt this smart and speedy treatment was a huge factor in the West Virginia boy already recovering on his own having been released from the hospital.
