Heritage North Carolina Restaurant Closing Unexpectedly
A heritage North Carolina restaurant is closing unexpectedly. Many of us will be sorry to see Harper’s Restaurant in Charlotte close it’s doors. And that’s going to happen July 20.
Heritage North Carolina Restaurant Closing Unexpectedly
According to our source, The Charlotte Observer, the restaurant closure was not planned. Tom Sasser is the founder and owner of Harper’s. According to our source, the Harper’s team fought to renew their lease term but ultimately lost that battle. The landlord at Sharon Corners reportedly has opted to go in another direction with the space.
A Bank Will Reportedly Go In It’s Place
Many people are allegedly upset that the space where Harper’s is now will become a bank. Harper’s originally opened in 1987 on Woodlawn Road in Charlotte. It was a local favorite. And prided itself on using ingredients sourced locally. Sasser tells the Observer, “Nobody was really doing a scratch kitchen type restaurant featuring local ingredients.”
Harper’s Employees Will Have New Job Opportunities
Harper’s is not leaving it’s employees out to dry. Sasser is reportedly offering job opportunities at places like Mimosa Grill in Uptown Charlotte, Taco Molino in Fort Mill, Horace’s Hot Fried Chicken and One Catering. Harper’s had a delicious 35 year ride. Still, it is sad to see a heritage North Carolina restaurant closing. Many will have to find another place for their favorite locally sourced food and beverage.
