Reba McEntire’s New Restaurant Looks Like A Must Visit
I’m going to be one hundred percent honest here. I was raised in Texas with the mentality that as far as Oklahoma was concerned, not much to see there. AND, as a young broadcaster, I went for a weekend seminar in Oklahoma City. There wasn’t much to see there. With that as a backdrop, I believe I’m going to have to change my opinion based on a new venture launched in tiny, Atoka, Oklahoma. The great, Reba McEntire has opened Reba’s Place. Full disclosure, I’m a HUGE mark for Reba. We go back a long way.
Don’t ask. Her hair, my shirt…neither of us want to remember HOW far back we go. Anyway, when I read Reba’s doing ANYTHING, my attention is grabbed. I’m fired up to see this place. According to the website: Constructed in a century old Masonic Temple, Reba’s place features two stories of dining space that open to a central stage which will regularly host live music performances. The menu includes scratch made versions of many of the dishes most popular in the region alongside favorites from other areas including Nashville, New Orleans and Mexico. Menu highlights include the “Fancy” steak dinner, street tacos, chicken fried steak and Reba’s personal favorite, pinto beans and corn bread. The main floor also showcases a restored antique bar that is more than 100 years old and offers a broad range of beer, wine and spirits crafted into signature cocktails. The aesthetics of the venue are heavily influenced by Reba’s western heritage and include a curated collection of memorabilia from Reba’s personal archives that will regularly change. The retail space will feature a combination of merchandise created just for this new venture alongside established Reba favorites.
I’m. All. In.
South Carolina Chicken Spot Named One Of America's Top Restaurants
We are always looking for new restaurants to try. Our friends often have great recommendations but another resource we use is the review site Yelp. The site recently released its annual list of the Top 100 Places To Eat in the US for 2023. There was a South Carolina spot that was named to the top restaurants’ list. And it’s one I have heard a ton of rave reviews about. May have to road trip and try it soon. To determine this list Yelp reached out to the user community first, requesting individuals to submit their favorite U.S. restaurants. From there the data science team at Yelp looked at the top community submissions to determine the top restaurants by ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions. They also made sure to include an equal geographic representation. Yelp community managers helped finalize the rankings.
That leads us to the 2023 Top 100 Places To Eat List. It includes eateries in a wide variety of cuisines including Italian, Ethiopian, Hawaiian, and Vegan offerings. It was not just South Carolina featured as one of the top restaurants on the top places to eat. There were also two North Carolina spots including one in Charlotte that made the list. I’ve featured each of those three places as well as highlighted to top 10 spots. If you’re interested in restaurants in other areas of the country you can see everything Yelp included at this link.
