This is a big year for the annual Charlotte Magazine Bob Awards as they celebrate 25 years. Among the many categories, the Charlotte Magazine Bob Awards ‘Over The Top Milkshake’ stands out as crazy good!
So, in all honesty, after living here 18 years I thought I would have recognized more of the winners of the ‘Best of the Best,’ or ‘Bob.’ However, many of the winners were either unknown to me, ones I hadn’t tried or others I really didn’t agree with wholeheartedly.
Charlotte Magazine Bob Awards ‘Over The Top Milkshake’ Winner
Anyway, I can definitely get on board with the ‘Over the Top Milkshake’ category. And, it’s no surprise Charlotte Magazine Bob Awards ‘Over The Top Milkshake’ winner is The Crazy Mason. This is one I have visited more than once!
Charlotte Magazine points out The Crazy Mason has 13 locations in 7 states. We first tried them at their locations in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. However, they recently expanded into North Carolina. And, they are certainly deserving of an ‘over the top’ description.
If you aren’t familiar with the Crazy Mason concept, it’s simple, yet decadent. Their signature creations fill glass Mason jars, rimmed with any number of sugary spreads and topped with insane treats. For the rim, you might see frosting, chocolate, cookies, cereals and the like.

And, the toppings at The Crazy Mason might be whole pieces of cake or slices of pie, even waffles or cotton candy. Plus, the names of the creations are equally inventive.
My First Experience With Charlotte Magazine Bob Awards ‘Over The Top Milkshake’ Winner
For example, I remember my first experience at Charlotte Magazine Bob Awards ‘Over The Top Milkshake’ winner The Crazy Mason. I ordered something called ‘How It All Pecan.’ If memory serves me, it was plenty of Butter Pecan ice cream stuffed into the jar, rimmed with a caramely syrupy concoction and topped with a full slice of pecan pie.
Well, needless to say, I barely made a dent. And, if you like, The Crazy Mason allows you to rinse out your jar and take it home as a keepsake.

It’s not summer without dipping into some ice cream. My go-to flavor is any form of cake batter/birthday cake with sprinkles in a waffle cone. Yes, you could describe that order as one of a 5-year-old, but it’s still delicious! I don’t go for ice cream too often, but I do love to grab a cone when I’m on vacation especially.
