Kobe Bryant and his mom: The NBA star and his mom had a rift when she sold precious mementos from early in her son’s career to an auction house without his permission. Kobe wrote a letter asking for them to stop the sale, claiming that Mama Bryant stole the goods from him. Yikes.

The feeling I have when hearing about the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others is the overwhelming sense of how short life is. We hear it and we say it but it really can be way too short. What a tragic end for a father and daughter that seemed so close. It reminds me to say I love you to those I love a little more and savor each moment.
Back in 1996 Kobe Bryant's name was called to be a professional athlete here in Charlotte. His heart wasn't in it and he went elsewhere.
