GALLERY: Celebrating 15 Years On The Tanner In the Morning Show
We want to wish Rob Tanner a very happy 16th anniversary!
I came here sometime in 1998 to do afternoon drive at the time and I have seen many people come and go over the years but when Rob Tanner was hired to do mornings for us 15 years ago, this was a guy I really hoped would stay. Luckily for all of us, he has. I’m not sure of all Tanner’s stats but I do know his morning show is the longest-running in the history of this radio station and there are many reasons for that. I’ll tell you about the Rob Tanner I know, but honestly, you know him just as much as I do. What you see is what you get with him. There is nothing fake about the guy. And he has the tenderest heart of anyone here. I mean the man cries when the dog dies on Little House on The Prairie 🙂 He’s such a sweetheart. I consider him one of my best friends and a true brother. He loves Jesus, he loves his family (Missy, Emily, and Ethan) and I know he loves us too. He always loves meeting all of you too and is the first to volunteer when the community calls. Oh, and he’s HILARIOUS… all the time. I really could go on and on. I’m just happy he came and I’m happy to be working on a team where he is the quarterback. He’s the best at it.
As you may know, Tanner has had not one but two separate cancers. I honestly do not know how he came to work each and every day with a smile on his face. He was in pain and still is. He raises the bar when it comes to a work ethic. He teases that others do all the work for him but he is the one that shows up day after day and makes us all laugh. I don’t tell him enough how much I love and admire him.
One of the highlights in his career I know was when we won the Academy of Country Music awards for major market personalities of the year. I’ve been nominated as a solo personality before but being good enough to bring home the trophy was Tanner’s leadership. He’s one of the best men and best broadcasters I know.
I thought you might enjoy seeing a few pics from the people Tanner has worked with here over the years. While I have been with him on the morning show for nine years, there have been a few other fabulous ladies! His constant and his right-hand man is the magnificent, Chris Allen. The man who makes us all laugh everyday Cpt Jim and you may remember our incredible Pinkie, the lovely and talented Kara, the fabulous Gunn and the wonderful MiMi. Now we are very happy Emalee is with us too! Who could forget the amazing late great Frank Lassiter? We’ve had a lot of fun over the years and I hope we have many many more. We love you, Tanner!
