One Sandwich At A Time
In Charlotte North Carolina, Mecklenburg Schools will provide grab and go meals while schools are closed. Lunch (and breakfast for the next day) will be served in participating school’s parking lots. Meals are free for anyone 18-years old and under. Meals will be distributed Monday-Friday beginning Tuesday, March 17 from 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. The district will review the meal distribution plan weekly and communicate each week to the media and the community. This will allow us to update and change when the need arises.
There are a lot of restaurants coming forward to help out families in need during COVID-19 and an example is with Subway® and Feeding America®, as they team up to try to provide up to 15 million meals to feed people in need across the country. With the purchase of every Footlong through April 30 for takeout, catering and delivery, Subway will provide a meal* to support local Charlotte area Feeding America food banks.
