Minnesota-based company Target has moved to establish Juneteenth. The June 19th celebration of the emancipation of African-Americans from slavery will now be an official company holiday as more businesses continue to adjust their internal policies in the wake of widespread streets protests on racial equity.
Target has become the latest company to make Juneteenth a national paid holiday. Target distribution centers and stores will remain open and hourly workers will get the time and a half if they have to work on Juneteenth.
Target corporate offices will be closed. The closest target to Charlotte has located off Metropolitan Ave which will remain open.
