129 Dating Tips for Women …in the 1950s
Love sweet love. Oh have the rules changed when it comes to looking for a mate. Well back in the 50s a fashion magazine put out a list of 129 ways to “find a husband”. Some of these suggestions literally made me spew my coffee.
The article starts out like this “In the United States today there are sixteen million women over the age of 17 who are not married. Presumably the vast majority of them would like to be”. Wow, really? The ripe old age of 17 and not married yet. hmm
Here are a few of my favorite suggestions:
“Be friendly to ugly men, handsome is as handsome does”
“Get lost at a football game”
“Don’t be afraid to associate with more attractive girls, they may have some leftovers”
“Don’t take a job in a company run largely by women” that one made me laugh out loud.
“Pretend your car breaks down in strategic locations”
