Where To Get Those Darn Flu Shots
They say that this flu season/vaccine is more important than ever to reduce our risk of flu. There are some folks who line up to get a flu shot because they feel they’re reducing the burden of flu illness on the healthcare system and save medical resources to care for people with COVID-19. Mecklenburg County Public Health is holding a series of drive-thru flu shot clinics to take advantage of this season.
It’s called: Flu Fighter Friday Clinic, so mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There is no out-of-pocket cost and insurance is not required. But, if you have insurance, it’s not a bad idea to bring your insurance card. A standard dose of flu shots only are available at drive-thru clinics, but for high-dose vaccine or Flu Mist nasal sprays, you’ll need to call (704) 336-6500 for an appointment because supplies might be limited.
When to show up? Friday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m. Where to show up? Southeast Health Department, 249 Billingsley Rd., Charlotte, NC. This availability is during the drive-thru flu clinic. Who Should Get a Flu Shot? They are suggesting anyone 6 months and older should get a flu shot every year.
The Flu Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at high risk of serious complications from flu, including:
Adults over 65 years of age, young children, people with chronic health conditions, and pregnant women. The flu vaccine is also very important for people who have close contact with people who are at higher risk for complications for the flu.
