Catherine’s Favorite ACM Performance (So Far)
There are three kinds of songs that will pull a tear from my eye; songs about a deceased parent, songs about Jesus and songs about a beloved dog. Lots of emotion at last night’s ACM awards and we will get to one of my favorites in just a moment.
Here are a few of my personal takes about what I have seen so far of the ACM awards. I am about halfway in. I love Keith Urban, ya’ll know that. There is no one more talented, more kind, more generous or more handsome. I adore the man BUT he is not a co host of a major awards show. He just doesn’t have that bone. He is too laid back and just doesn’t seem to have a naturally great sense of humor. Next year, I hope they pick someone else for the job. Again, I love that man so much but just not in that role. And there was zero chemistry between him and his co host Mickey Guyton.
I loved seeing one well tuned performance after the next! Kane Brown’s been working out! and Thomas Rhett has grown a righteous beard during lock down, wow, impressive! I was expecting to be wowed and blown away by Carrie Underwood’s performance, and I was. Jesus showed up in that performance and I was loving every minute of it.
The song that started my water works was the duet between Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert, Miranda filling in for Chris’s wife Morgane who had another engagement . It was a song Chris wrote about his deceased rescue dog, Maggie. Maggie’s Song is incredible and set social media on fire.
Let me Tell you a story about an old friend of mine
Somebody left her in a shopping cart in a parking lot for us to find
Just a fuzzy black pup who was feeling hurt and alone
We put her in the back seat and we were taking her home.
