Gallery:Most Popular Girls and Boys Names Of The Last 20 Years
I thought I was being so clever when I named my daughter, Emily. In a world swirling with Brittany’s, I wanted to give her more of an old fashioned name but it turns out I wasn’t the only Mom that had that idea.
According to a new survey by Nameberry, Emily is the most popular girls name in the last 20 years. It is followed by Olivia, Jessica, Sophie, Chloe, Charlotte, Grace, Amelia, Ella, Lucy, Lily, Mia, Ellie, Hannah and Holly. Hear that? Every one of those names is old fashioned.
I had the same thinking when I named my son William. That’s also my Dads name and my husband’s Dad’s name. We had to go with William. Here are the most popular boys names of the last 20 years. Let’s start with first to last and go with: Jack, Thomas, Harry, Oliver, Joshua, James, William, George, Daniel, Samuel, Joseph, Charlie, Jacob, Benjamin and Alexander. I am surprised there isn’t a Jason or a Chris somewhere in there. Where are my Steve’s? All of the boys names are also old fashioned names.
Both Tanner and I have daughters named Emily. Here are a few of their pics:
