Gallery: Apple Picking, Pups and Cider Sipping In York County
With so much changing, it is nice that some places still keep the pleasures of fall pretty simple. Before we get into our really great Sunday Funday this past weekend, let’s settle something. What says fall to you more; pumpkins or apples? I’m an apple girl myself which explains why I love going to one of York County’s apple farms every October.
There are a lot of good pumpkin patches in our area. This one is my favorite because, let’s face it, I love the hard cider they make right there with their own home grown apples. And the homemade apple doughnuts!! Plus Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill is only about ten minutes from my house. So my husband Rick and my neighbor Rosie and I packed up Winnie and headed to York.
It used to be a bit of a locally held secret. You can go and pick your own apples, sit down under the covered area and enjoy some local music while sipping on your cider, hard or otherwise. Pets are welcome which of course we loved. No, word is apparently out that this is a really fun old fashioned fall activity that everyone can enjoy and people are flocking in from far and wide.
