Carolina Place Mall Now Has Its Own Firearm Sniffing Dog
A specially trained canine will now be roaming the halls and stores at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville. Carlos of course will have his specially trained human with him as he starts his new job. Carlos is the newest security tool and is reportedly very effective. He is a German Shepherd and he does not play, at least not on the job. If you want to learn more about and meet Carlos get all the details here from Channel 3.
I have my own personal experience with crime at Carolina Place Mall. It happened in the mid-nineties when the mall was just about to open. I was there at a work event and was looking at a jewelry case in a jewelry store before it opened. Just as those gates were about to open in comes about five or six large men with sledge hammers. They did not look at me but one of them did elbow me out of the way as hard as he could. He didn’t look at me or say a word. I was stunned and sat on the floor for a second and watched those guys “Smash and grab” hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of diamonds. They worked fast. By the time I realized I was in the middle of a robbery, it was over and they left. They apparently had done this up and down the southeast.
I did not see a weapon that day but I was right in the middle of a crime there, and I don’t ever want to be in that situation again. If you see Carlos, do not pet him. He is there to work and keep you safe.
