FEMA Uses Waffle House To Gauge Damage Following A Hurricane
It doesn’t seem possible but Time magazine claims the government uses Waffle House restaurants to determine damage following a natural disaster like Hurricane Ian.
FEMA administrator Craig Fugate says, “Waffle House Index gives a green light when a full menu is being served, yellow means a limited menu due to a loss of power and red means the restaurant is closed. If you get there and the Waffle House is closed, that is really bad. That’s where you go to work”.
By the way, 11 Waffle Houses closed yesterday in Florida because of Hurricane Ian.
