North Carolina Lake Makes Top Ten List For Best To Swim In The United States
It is that time of year. The weather is getting warmer by the day and thoughts turn to how to cool off. This North Carolina lake makes the top ten list for best to swim in the United States. And it is probably not the lake you are thinking of. Discover this huge clean lake right here in our state.
According to MSN, there are ten lakes that make the list in the United States for accessibility, cleanliness, price and activities. Is it Lake Norman, Wylie, or Hickory? Nope. This is a lake I have never heard of but want to visit for sure. Picture 76 miles of shoreline along the Nantahala National Forest. Lake Santeetlah in North Carolina makes the top ten lists for best lakes to swim in the United States.
There are lots of places to gain access to this clean lake. MSN recommends you gain access at Cheoah Point Recreation area in Graham County. It is free to swim there and there are lots of activities for the kids. Sounds like fun and we for sure like the price (free!). I thoroughly enjoyed spending time in Charlottesville, going to Monticello, and wineries. Virginia is also home to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Busch Gardens, and Kings Dominion. And you can be a short drive from Washington DC (which I’m convinced everyone did as a summer vacation except my family).
