Bowling Alley Fire Causes Myrtle Beach Resort Evacuation
“There was a bunch of smoke. Then, the power went out. So, we had to walk down nine flights of stair in the dark, kid’s screaming. Everybody’s scared.” Okay, after reading that quote, if you bet that this was one mom’s description of what’s supposed to be a relaxing family vacation at a Myrtle Beach resort, then you win. A fire broke out in the bowling alley of the Captain’s Quarters Resort Wednesday morning. When I think bowling alley at Myrtle Beach I think of this.
The “Oat-Rageously Good” Milkshake sits on the counter at the North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina location of Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar inside 810 Billiards and Bowling
I can’t help it. The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar is located inside 810 Billiards and Bowling in Noth Myrtle. So, a two-alarm blaze that causes evacuation is the last image in my head.
Anyway, I’m able to jest because no one was injured in the fire. However, all of the Captain’s Quarters guests were unable to return to the resort and had to be moved to other accommodations. That doesn’t mean all’s well that ends well. Some guests are beyond miffed in that they didn’t hear any fire alarms and weren’t informed by hotel staff of the mandatory evacuation. They more or less had to pick up on the idea from what was going on around them.
The crazy part is that’s normal?! WPDE quotes Captain Jonathan Evans with Myrtle Beach Fire, “Some of the older hotels like this, they might just have them (fire alarms) in the hallways. Maybe they did go off and they didn’t hear them. It was 5:30 in the morning, I know I’m a heavy sleeper. It can be difficult to hear or they only went off on certain floors that were affected the most around the 6th and 7th floors. So, if you were a little bit higher they may not have gone off because you weren’t in immediate danger.”
YIKES! Something tells me that’s going to have to change at the Captain’s Quarters and others like the resort. Pronto. No one wants to be evacuation on vacation. However, EVERYONE wants to be informed of their evacuation.
Here Are The 8 Restaurants We Visited During Our Annual Myrtle Beach South Carolina Vacation
We consider ourselves blessed to have a great circle of friends. I prefer to keep my tribe relatively small. That being said, our best friends we take most of our trips with are part of that tribe. And, when our sons were young we started a tradition of celebrating July 4th at Myrtle Beach. It’s something we look forward to. And, we treasure all our memories even more now that our boys are less available to us at 21 years old. So, through the years we found favorite spots we continue to visit each time. And, I thought it would be fun to share the 8 restaurants we visited during our annual Myrtle Beach South Carolina vacation this year.
There’s a time and a place for referencing scientifically arrived at data to determine the “best” of things. However, this list of 8 restaurants we visited during our annual Myrtle Beach, South Carolina vacation has no such data. It is simply a compilation of the spots we tried and loved. Therefore, take it as advice or travel tips to start you in the right direction. I love to visit restaurants of all kinds. And, with my love of food comes sincere, honest opinions about it.
Typically I give a spot a couple of tries in case they just have an off day. So, pretty much all of the places I choose to return to and write about are ones that made me happy in some way! And, when it comes to food, service and atmosphere these choices pass my test.
So, sit back and enjoy my list of the 8 restaurants we visited during our annual Myrtle Beach, South Carolina vacation this year. Plus, included in the 8 are a couple of ice cream shops we tried for the first time.
