It’s The End Of An Era For Netflix
Each generation in this country has been able to witness amazing evolution in one way or another. For example, my grandparents both remembered traveling to church on Sunday, as a family, by horse and buggy. They lived to see men travel to the moon and beyond. That is truly amazing. The evolution I’ve witnessed? Not quite as important at the one of my family’s earlier generations, but significant none the less. In terms of home entertainment, I’ve seen movies go from a theater going experience only, to ability to go to a store and rent/buy movies on video tape (and later DVD/Blu Ray) to watch at home, to being able to just download/stream these movies on demand.
Evolution is good. However, I mourned the demise of the video store. It was so cool to walk into a Blockbuster Video, surrounded by all those movies and pick what you wanted to watch. That era was replaced by Netflix and their ability to deliver DVDs and Blu Ray discs to your mailbox. That’s right, do you remember THAT’S how Netflix actually entered our lives? Remember this commercial?
I know, it’s crazy! Netflix has become a giant in the world of streaming and original programming creation. In 1998, they were strictly a convenience for renting movies on disc! Anyway, CBS reports On Tuesday, Netflix announced it will send out its final red envelope on September 29, 2023, marking an end to 25 years of mailing DVDs to members. The company will continue to accept returns of customers’ remaining DVDs until October 27.
Unlike the closing of the brick and mortar video stores, I won’t mourn Netflix ending its home delivery disc service. In fact, every day that I look at my massive collection of DVDs and Blu Rays, I kick myself for buying them in the first place. Oh well, maybe my grandchildren will be amused at seeing first-hand how their grandfather had to watch movies “like a caveman.”
These Secret Codes Give You Access To Even More Netflix Conflict
Do you find yourself opening Netflix and then closing it because you’ve exhausted the suggested films and shows? Or many of those suggestions just don’t interest you. If so you may want to hack the system and narrow down what you’re looking for. That’s where these so called secret codes for Netflix come in to play. They are genre specific (and I mean very specific). Now to access them you do have to use a web browser and not the app. But you can easily download one for your smart tv or firestick device. From there to use the code and visit each genre’s webpage, just use the address http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/ and input the four-digit code at the end. So you’d put http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/1234 if the genre you are trying to access was (1234). This will take you an inventory of every Netflix movie under that specific category, helping you narrow down what may interest you.
The folks at Ogres Crypt are the ones who compiled this list. Below you fill find many of the most popular genres and subcategories but if you want the full list you can view it here. You’ll see the genre (ie Action & Adventure) followed by a breakdown of subcategories of that genre (ie Comic Book and Superhero Movies). If you’re boss gets on you for lack of productivity today you can blame that on me! Enjoy using these not so secret anymore codes to find some new Netflix content to binge. Happy watching!
