Carolina Panthers Receiver Upgrades North Carolina High School
There are two types of free agents in professional sports. There are those who sign a contract with a new team, and it is strictly a business arrangement. The team’s home may or may not be “home” for the player. He’s here to play a game and make money. Nothing wrong with that. Then there are athletes like Adam Thielen. The Carolina Panthers wide receiver came to the team in the off-season from the Minnesota Vikings. On Monday night Adam and his wife, Caitlin Thielen Foundation’s hosted their first-ever “TopGolf Classic” in Charlotte.
The beneficiary? Charlotte’s Harding University High School. Specifically, the weight room at the school is getting a much-needed upgrade. The room’s equipment will be upgraded. It will receive new flooring, branding (ie logos painted, etc.) on the walls, and 5, $1000 scholarships will be funded.
Similar donations will be made to a high school in Thielen’s former home of Minnesota. These represent the fifth and sixth high schools aided in this manner by the Theilen Foundation.
Concerning the connection with Harding, Adam Thielen is quoted by WCNC as saying, “We got connected to them and knew there was an opportunity to make an impact there. We call it change through sport, helping make an impact through sports. But not for sport, for life.”
Good for Adam Thielen and the Thielen Foundation for embracing the Charlotte community so soon. The impact of his generosity will be felt for many years to come by the student athletes at Harding University High School.
Immediate impact on the field and off. #Panthers WR @athielen19 and the @ThielenFound TopGolf event tonight raised money for an all-new weight room/scholarships for Harding University H.S.https://t.co/EKVpqNDwLJ pic.twitter.com/mBF0CmsdyR
