There has been so much back and forth on this lately. Will this year be any different for daylight savings time to end in the Palmetto state? Here’s when to turn your clocks back in South Carolina.
Welp the bottom line is, you will have to fall back an hour in time on Sunday November 5 at 2a.m. But wait, didn’t lawmakers in South Carolina make some changes to stop this? Well, yes and no.
According to The State, The South Carolina legislature voted thee years ago to make daylight savings time an ongoing thing. That would mean folks in South Carolina would not have to touch the clock. It would remain the same. We would no longer have to put up with having dinner at dark, daylight savings time would never end.
The problem is, congress voted no for permanent daylight savings time in South Carolina. It is a fact that the Sunshine Protection Act was passed by the United States Senate in 2021. This was cause for great excitement. Had it been approved by congress and the president, this would have been the year for no falling back.
Originally daylight savings time was enacted as a way to save energy according to the State. It would provide more daylight into the evening hours.
Again, the bottom line is, while the Sunshine Protection Act went a little ways, it did not go far enough. Fall back as usual November 5,2023. To learn more get details from The State right here.
