Due to a large water main break some people will be consuming their water a little differently for now. This South Carolina county is under a boiled water advisory.
The water main breech happened in Fort Lawn, South Carolina. Some customers in the county say the water is discolored. People living in Chester County, South Carolina should boil water to use for cooking and drinking according to a report from Channel 9.
The Chester Metropolitan District reportedly issued the mandate. They advise that even after flushing faucets til the water seems clear you should still boil the water for at least a minute. The county goes on to say that pets and children should consume bottled water for now.
The Fort Lawn Fire Department is offering some help to their neighbors. They have bottled water for your there if you need it. Students are asked to bring bottled water to school for the moment. The Chester Metropolitan District plans to continue testing for bacteria. They tell Channel 9 they will update customers on the safety of the water as soon as possible. According to the television station,” CMD said it will use the Reverse 911 system to text or call customers with updates”.
