Bad news for some people who work in the banking industry in North Carolina. The news comes just in time for the holidays too. ‘Aggressive job cuts’ are coming for this major North Carolina bank.
Wells Fargo CEO reports in the Charlotte Observer more employees will be out of work. The bank also expects to have higher severance costs in the fourth quarter. Back in September there were rumblings of a layoff wave and smaller office space was expected to be a need for the company. Over the years “tens of thousands of jobs” have been cut and more are expected in 2024. With the layoffs will come those severance pay outs. Aggressive job cuts are coming for this major North Carolina bank.
Wells Fargo CEO Charlie Scharf says finding ways to be more productive in 2024 is like “peeling back an onion”, according to our source. This from the executive in the Charlotte Observer, “When you become more efficient it gives you a chance to look at everything else and say, ‘Okay, what’s next’.
The San Francisco based company employs around 28,000 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Wells Fargo is not the only bank in Charlotte that is making cut backs. Truist is a Charlotte, North Carolina based bank and according to our source, The Charlotte Observer, expected to have $750 million in ‘sizable layoffs’. As of last year, Truist had around 3,000 people working in the area. Ally Financial also has a large work force in Charlotte and has announced a 5% cutback.

While a majority of positions were for experienced-level jobs (62%), manager and senior-level roles claimed 32% of the remote job listings. The remaining 6% of postings were attributed to entry-level jobs.”
