One of North Carolina’s largest health providers may owe you money. You might be entitled to a settlement if you believe Novant Health shared your personal information without telling you.
According to Channel 9, plaintiffs say Novant gave a social media platform access to some patients personal information. Novant is accused of giving Facebook access between May 1, 2020 and August 12, 2022. So what could be seen? Important things like patient’s email addresses, appointment dates, doctors and other information.
Novant was reportedly sued but denies any wrongdoing. And the court has not ruled that Novant did anything incorrect. Still, a settlement is reportedly pending and the judge must sign off on an agreement. That decision is expected in June.
So, what steps do you think if you suspect you are one of the people affected. If you think you may be one of the patients impacted you must submit that claim by May 6 according to our source, wsoctv.com. Some people may want to sue privately and that is allowed. If so, you must opt out of this settlement by April 4. Novant Health is based in Winston Salem and serves over 4 million patients.
If Facebook does have access to your personal information it could have ramifications both personally and professionally. One of North Carolina’s largest health care providers may owe you money.
