Sometimes life can be a lot. Stress from work, home, and other internal and external pressures can cause a lot of strain on our nervous systems. Luckily Healthline has made a list of a lot of ways that you can calm your nervous system.
Weight training is a healthy way to help calm your nervous system. You don't even need to use any super fancy equipment or lift super heavy items. Household items with some weight like bags of soil or full backpacks can be used as weights. If you don't have any items like this you can just use resistance bands or just do bodyweight exercises.
Taking a hot bath or even a hot shower can help to calm the nervous system. These activities can even help to regulate blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and some evidence even suggest that they can increase endorphins. Making a bubble bath or using bath salts can make the experience even more rewarding. Another way to get these effects from warmth is using a heating pad. It doesn't matter what kind you get, plug-in or microwave, as long as you can get it to the temperature that you like best.
The brain and nervous system both really love fat. This means that eating healthy fats is a good way to help heal your nervous system. Fatty fish, nuts, and certain cheeses are full of healthy fats. incorporating these types of foods into your diet is a good way to feel better physically and mentally.
The last way to help your nervous system in this list may be that best way, taking a break. Most of us are so busy all the time that we don't make the time to take a break. When we do have free tome we tend to fill it with TV shows/movies, social media, or calling people we haven't talked to in a while. There is nothing wrong with these types of activities, and they do help us to unwind and relax. However, our nervous system needs peace and silence every once and a while. In order to get this rest that our nervous system needs, we need to take time to do activities with as little stimulation as possible.
January 2024 North Carolina Fast Food News
A new year brings new food. And in a time when a lot of people are focusing on health and working out, fast food places are ready to pull out all the stops to keep you coming back. And that is what they are doing in this iteration of January fast food news. This week brings announcements from a variety of fast-food restaurants. From burger spots to pizza to a new Texas Toast side. And of course some good deals.
I often have the intent to try new items but most of the time I never get around to it and then they are gone. But there are a few on this list that I may prioritize (or at least I'll attempt to!) First up- McDonald's Dessert. It's the return of a favorite (and no not a milkshake or ice cream because well you know). It's the Strawberry & Crème Pies. They are already available at some restaurants and will replace the Holiday Pie. Though they aren't available at all restaurants. The pies are you guessed it, strawberry and vanilla-flavored creme pies coated in a sugar crust. You can check availability on the McDonald's app.
Keep reading to see some of the other January fast food news for 2024! What new item are you most excited to try?
Wendy's Baconator Burrito
If you love bacon then Wendy’s has the breakfast menu item for you. The fast food chain is launching new breakfast burritos to it's morning lineup. The burritos include two eggs, and six strips of bacon, which is the same amount of bacon on the daytime menu item the Baconator. But that's not enough! There are also breakfast potatoes and both American cheese and Swiss cheese sauce all wrapped in the tortilla.
Heart Shaped Hardee's
A Valentine's Day favorite is returning to Hardee's. It's the heart-shaped biscuits! And you'll have two weeks this time to get them! Heart-shaped biscuits will return Thursday, February 1 through February 14th. Previously they were only available the week of Valentine's.
New Subway Treats
We all know and love Subway cookies. But now the sandwich chain has some new "footlong" treats on the menu. Subway is offering three new 12-inch-long snacks including a chocolate chip cookie, a Cinnabon churro, and an Auntie Anne’s pretzel. If these are served warm count me in!
Free Shake Shack!
What's better than a Shake Shack shake? How about a FREE Shake Shack shake? The chain is offering a buy one get one free offer on milkshakes now through March 27. The offer is valid at participating locations during the hours of 2 pm-5 pm. You'll need the code TWOFORFUN.
Papa John's Bites
Papa Johns is adding a new item to its 'Papa Bites' lineup - Cheesy Calzone Papa Bites. The new menu item has soft launched for Papa Rewards loyalty members and will be available for everyone to try on January 29. The cheesy calzone bites include a blend of mozzarella and garlic herb ricotta, pepperoni, Italian sausage, and green peppers inside fresh dough. They are served with a side of original pizza sauce. The menu already includes Chicken Parmesan Papa Bites, Jalapeño Papa Bites, Oreo Cookie Papa Bites and the dessert Twix Papa Bites.
Dickey's BBQ Texas Toast
What's better than warm, buttery Texas Toast? Not much. And that's what is the latest side item at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. Texas Toast will now be included with the chain’s signature pit-smoked meats. They describe the toast as “cooked to perfection” with a "buttery crunch".
Burger King Crowns
You'll notice a change at Burger King as employees have been ordered to tell customers “You rule” and to offer them a cardboard crown. This is a "thanks for ordering from the menu" gesture. The fast food chain will be sending monitors to its restaurants to enforce the new policy. The last time I tried to go to Burger King they wouldn't even take my order at the drive thru even though the sign said they were open and there was someone there. I'd take being able to just place an order over a crown any day.
