The Best Of Cabarrus County Fair Food 2024
Literally, for more than a decade, Debbie and I would broadcast our show from the opening Friday afternoon/evening of The Cabarrus County Fair. Debbie grew up going to fairs like this and the first part of my radio career in Central Texas exposed me to the fabulousness of these icons of American existence. As such, we both have a HUGE affinity for fair food. Look, I know we’ve lost 150 pounds. I know we’ve changed our ways in terms of eating and living a healthy lifestyle. That being said, every now and again, you need to eat something that’s been deep fried and served on a stick. You just do.
For the past couple of years, we’ve headed to the fair with a video crew to do our own version of “Diners Drive-Ins, and Dives.” This year, we created sort of an appetizer, main course, dessert experience. If you haven’t headed out to the Cabarrus County Fair, DO IT! This is the last weekend, and there’s no chance you see these videos and can want to do anything else!
Your ‘Appetizer’ At The Cabarrus County Fair
Stop number one on our Cabarrus County Fair Food tour was at Youngs Family’s Concessions, and their delicious roasted corn. Debbie and I are lifelong marks for roasted corn, but we’d never experienced it like this or with a key ingredient we never would have thought of.
Your ‘Main Course’ At The Cabarrus County Fair
If that unreal roasted corn doesn’t do it for you, then a visit to the WAB Food Truck serving up delicacies from what has become a Mt. Pleasant institution, will. Sometimes, nothing tastes better than a cheeseburger. Especially, one of these!
Your ‘Dessert’ At The Cabarrus County Fair
Okay, we’ve saved the best for last. Nothing, I mean NOTHING says, “Fair Food” like deep fried dough, cookies, and candy bars. And the Cabarrus County Fair/Beaver Concessions has never let us down in this regard.
There’s not a better good time for a family than the Cabarrus County Fair. And a reminder, this is the last weekend. Get your tickets in advance here.
