Catherine’s Top Book Pick: Walk To Beautiful by Carolina’s Own Jimmy Wayne
Let’s face it, we are going to be home for a while. Time to take a deep dive into a good book.
I’d like to recommend my favorite book to you by one of the most amazing guys I’ve ever met.
I met Jimmy Wayne around 2008 or so. We were playing “Do You Believe Me Now” and I LOVED it. It went to number one and Jimmy came in for a visit. He’s a local guy, growing up in Cleveland County and I was looking forward to meeting him. I don’t know if it was because of our shared home county or our connection with the radio station but we clicked instantly. I had this immediate sisterly affection for Jimmy and we stayed in touch and met and talked over the next few years (really to this day) over various projects.
Then Jimmy wrote his book “Walk to Beautiful”. It’s his life-changing storytelling of his life; how he grew up and the woman that turned his life around. I’m sure Jimmy was sorry I had his cell number because I would text him after every few pages with questions, mostly I texted him that I couldn’t believe he survived to tell the tale.
Jimmy has used his platform as a hitmaker and best selling author to bring awareness to foster children everywhere. His efforts have changed lives and created laws of protection. I DEVOURED this book in a day. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be amazed and you will be inspired to go on no matter your circumstances. With any luck, you will find an angel on earth as Jimmy did.
