South Carolina Woman Dies After Being Struck With A Beach Umbrella
This is horrible news. A 63 year old South Carolina woman passed away this week after being impaled by a beach umbrella. It happened at Beach access 14 on Calhoun Drive in Garden City.
Strong winds reportedly carried the umbrella and sadly made contact with Tammy Perreault that WPDE in Myrtle Beach calls a “local”. It reportedly hit the victims left side of her upper torso.
This is so incredibly tragic and can happen so quickly. I don’t know how many times my beach umbrella has flown off from the base and I have had to quickly catch it before it flies in someone’s path. They can be so dangerous and it can happen in a flash.

Scotty’s Beach Bar in Surfside posted this on their Facebook page:
Today with heavy hearts we mourn the loss of a dear friend and kind hearted local, Tammy Perreault. Some things we will never begin to understand but what we do know is no one has a bad thing to say about this woman. To be as sweet as her day in and day out should be a goal for all.
