This Cancer Is On The Rise In Young Adults
Doctors can’t explain why but are warning people under 50 to make some lifestyle changes in order to decrease their risk.
According to The Journal of the National Cancer Institute, the number of colon cancer cases have increased in the United States for young adults between the ages of 20-39. This number has doubled since the 1980s.
“We know that excess body weight is a major risk factor for colorectal cancer,” Dr. Leah Smith, senior manager of surveillance at the Canadian Cancer Society said.
Being active, reducing the consumption of red and processed meats, limiting alcohol, and not smoking are ways to prevent colon cancer according to Smith.
