Drug Stores Raising Tobacco-Buying Age
Two of the nation’s biggest drugstore chains are following suit.
Walgreens announced on Tuesday that beginning September 1st, it would only sell tobacco products to customers age 21 or over.
The move comes two months after the FDA put the company ‘on notice’ for allegedly selling tobacco to minors.
Shortly after Walgreens’ announcement, Rite Aid followed behind, saying it would raise the tobacco age to 21 in the next 90 days.
A number of states have already raised the legal tobacco age to 21.
