Transgender Cyclist Wins 2nd Women’s Championship!
Is this fair?
A transgender cyclist has won the Women’s World Cycling Championship for the second year in a row. Competing in the 2019 Masters Track Cycling World Championships in England over the weekend,
Canadian Rachel McKinnon took the gold in the sprint event for women between 35 and 39. McKinnon won the same event last year. The back-to-back victories have sparked criticism from other competitors, who say McKinnon — who was born a man — has an unfair advantage. However, the College of Charleston philosophy professor says she doesn’t agree. “I have yet to meet a real champion who has a problem with trans women,” McKinnon says. “Real champions want stronger competition. If you win because bigotry got your competition banned, you’re a loser.”
Do you agree with McKinnon’s comments?
