Google’s “Loretta” Ad Is Based on a Real Life Love Story
If you were at a viewing party watching the big game between the Chiefs and 49ers, chances are you heard a lot of sniffles after watching Google’s commercial.
“Hey Google, show me photos of me and Loretta,” begins the 90-second spot of an elderly gentleman asking the smart home assistant to keep notes from his memories of his late wife. On YouTube, the commercial has racked up over 11 million views. A read-through of the comments shows no dry eye.
But what makes the commercial even better, it was based on a true love story. In fact, the voice you hear throughout “Loretta” is the grandfather of a Googler, whose story they drew from to create the ad, according to Google’s blog. Missed it? Check it out:
