Gallery: Catherine’s Top Five Places To Get Outside
Here is a fun fact about me. I am what they call an “introverted extrovert” or something like that. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE meeting every single one of you but I’d rather do that one on one or in small groups. Large crowds have never been my thing. So, when health officials recommended social distancing, that is something I do anyway if I can.
If you’ve been listening for a while (Thank you!) you probably know there’s nowhere I would rather be than outside. There are so many beautiful lakes and parks two hours or less from Charlotte. Here’s a look and a few suggestions.
- King Mtn State Park: This is my go-to place to ride my horse. No prettier trails anywhere and about thirty miles from Charlotte
- Lake Lure, NC. The pics below were taken there this past weekend. Gorgeous countryside and strict business ordinances keep it just like it looked when I went there when I was little. Visit Chimney Rock while you are there. There were only a handful of people there this past weekend.
- Crowders Mtn State Park right at Kings Mtn, NC Great hiking trails! Take your pup!
- South Mtn. Ride or hike and get some great mountain and waterfall views
- Moses Cone Park in Blowing Rock: Worth the drive up the mountain. Take your dog for a hike, ride your bike, tour the manor or bring your horse.
