2 Dead and 12 Injured at a Block Party in Charlotte
This is not the type of news I wanted to hear this Monday morning, but sadly I can’t avoid it.
News sprung today that two people are dead and twelve were injured at a block party that led to a shooting last night in Charlotte. The Charlotte Police are calling the incident a “mass casualty” and say over one-hundred rounds were fired into a crowd of around 400 people at Beatties Ford and Catherine Simmons Ave in Charlotte.
Two people killed as 29-year-old Kelly Miller and 28-year-old Christopher Antonio Gleaton. Police say some of the other people who were injured are fighting for their lives. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they were initially called to the area after hearing a pedestrian may have been hit.

According to WBTV reports, witnesses say people were gathering to celebrate Juneteenth along Beatties Ford Road all weekend in a happy, peaceful celebration. This is truly a tragic event in our community. At this time, this story is still developing. Police are asking anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
