Mysterious Powerball Billionaire Buys Huge Hollywood Mansion
Remember back in November someone won over two billion dollars in the Powerball Lottery? Of course, you do. You’re still madly jealous that it wasn’t you. Anyway, it wasn’t until last month that the winner (from California) came forward. California is one of the states where your name HAS to be made public knowledge, but you don’t have to be photographed. So, we know the winner’s name is Edwin Castro, but we have no idea about his physical appearance. There’s so much about this that I like. By waiting a couple of months to claim the prize, that tells me Castro got all his ducks in a row, hired some financial planners, lawyers, and advisors. By remaining as anonymous as possible, that tells me that Castro is savvy to what could happen to him and his family-paparazzi-wise.
This dude is smart. Or at least this dude is doing smart things. NOW, almost a month since claiming the enormous prize, Edwin Castro has made his first major purchase. We may not know what he looks like, but we’re pretty good with his neighbors. According to TMZ, Castro has forked over more than $25 million for a huge Hollywood mansion. His neighbors include Jimmy Kimmel and Ariana Grande.
Can you imagine how bizarre and surreal it would be to go from living next to you and me, to all the sudden having neighbors and living in a pad like this?! To me, even crazier would have been the purchase moment. Edwin Castro’s lottery take-home before taxes was a one-time payment of $997.6 million. So, when the real estate agent took him on a tour of the house, and he said, “I’ll take it,” Edwin Castro was able to just stroke a check. Savage.
