Some areas of Lake Wylie are under a no swim advisory according to WSOCTV , but now there’s another lake under an advisory for a similar reason.
Part of Lake Norman is under a no swim advisory. And here around the 4th of July holiday, it is not a good time to be told to stay out. According to Channel 9 in Charlotte, the wastewater overflow is near the 1800 block of Jetton Road. An estimated 700 gallons of wastewater was expected to reach Lake Norman.
So what happened? Charlotte Water officials say is was a pipe failure. Charlotte Water spokesperson Cam Coley tells WSOC TV ,“A majority of wastewater overflows can be prevented with your help,” “Anything put in plumbing or a manhole can cause wastewater overflows, spilling raw sewage into your street, your creek or even inside your own home. Even products labeled as ‘flushable’ do not breakdown in the sewer system and can contribute to clogging.” Another North Carolina lake is under a no swim advisory due to the wastewater spill.
No word on when the no swim advisory will be lifted. For more information get all the details right here from Channel 9.
