For The First Time in Seven Years A Huge Part Of North Carolina Under Code Red Air Quality

Clear skies. We won’t see them for a day or two in the Charlotte area. For the first time in seven years, a huge part of North Carolina is under a code red air quality advisory.
I was doing a little yard work yesterday and noticed a haze over our pasture. I live in Clover, South Carolina. Charlotte city officials announced early Monday evening that the entire Charlotte, North Carolina area is under a Code Red Alert for the first time since 2016. It is all due to the Canadian wildfires according to Channel 9.
What do we do now? We wait. According to WSOC TV,” Code Red means people should limit prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors. Anyone sensitive to air pollution, including people with asthma, should avoid outdoor exertion altogether.” Fine with me. I love to be outdoors but I could tell the difference in the air quality yesterday. It was a little more difficult to breathe and I don’t have any respiratory issues. People with asthma or upper respiratory issues should particularly pay attention to the code red alert.
Wednesday the smoke is expected to be less. A Cord Orange has been issues for Wednesday. This means the air will be a little easier to breathe. The smoke is expected to dissipate and/or move on. North & South Carolina Are Some of the Rainiest States in the U.S.
As I sit here watching the rain pour down, it’s not shocking to see this list now. Some states just, unfortunately, get more rain than others all year long. Today, the weather was so gloomy that I looked at the weather app, and seems we’ll be having some rainy weather for quite some time. Why? It’s summer and we would much rather the warm weather and some sun so we can enjoy the outside. But, guess that’s the downfall of living somewhere that deals with a lot of rainfall per year.
A-Z Animals actually named 10 of the rainiest states in the U.S. Of course, both the Carolinas made the top 10. Can you guess where we fell on the list? Both states are certainly in the top 10, but we’re not exactly number one which I guess is the positive side of things. But, as we sit here and enjoy this rainy week, might as well see how much rain the Carolinas get compared to some other spots. Check out a few below and if you would like to see the full list of 10, click here.
