Plan For Delays On Charlotte’s Brookshire Freeway This Week
Plan for delays on Charlotte’s Brookshire Freeway this week. Overnight road work could linger into the morning commute.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, bridge rehabilitation work will close ramps and lanes on the Brookshire section of I-277 (weather permitting) during the overnight hours.
Motorists can expect to see lane closures on the inbound Independence ramp to the Brookshire Freeway outer loop (headed toward I-77). Commuters will also be unable to use the ramp from I-77 north to the Brookshire Freeway inner loop (Exit 11A).
Construction work is expected to wrap up by 6 a.m. each day, but that wasn’t the case earlier this month. Work lingered well into the morning rush on at least two separate days. Commuters on inbound Independence Boulevard were forced to sit through major delays.
The project will take a hiatus for the Labor Day weekend, but will likely last into next week because of precipitation expected over the next few days.
