Georgia Man Says He Can Retire ‘A Whole Lot Sooner’ Thanks To Massive North Carolina Lottery Win

Dewayne Townsend of Canton says it feels "real good" to be a brand new winner. He looks like such a great guy . Congratulations! This Georgia man says he can retire a whole lot sooner thanks to his massive North Carolina Education lottery win.

Dewayne is the first recipient of the $200,00 prize in the Carolina Panthers scratch-off game. Townsend goes on to say in a press release from the North Carolina Education lottery that, "It will make life so much easier for me now".“I have worked since I was probably 14 years old,” he said. “I’m 60 years old now and it is going to help me retire a whole lot sooner now.” His lucky ticket was purchased at the Kwik Stop on Highway 64 in Warne.  It was convenient for Dewayne because he works near there and enjoys buying scratch offs.

Dewayne has his prize in hand, he picked it up last Thursday at the North Carolina Lottery officials headquarters in Raleigh. After all the taxes and fees were removed he went home with $142,501 in his pocket.

Mr. Townsend says along with getting to retire sooner than he thought, he also plans to pay off his home.The Carolina Panthers scratch off game made its debut in July.  Dewayne is the proud owner of one of those $200,00 tickets and four remain.
