North Carolina Pro Wrestler Loses His Job

The professional wrestling business is tough on many levels.  Of course, there’s the obvious wear and tear on the body that these athletes (and make no mistake about it, they are big time athletes) endure.  Then there’s the fact that to really make it, you’ve got to be involved in one of two organizations, either the WWE or AEW, All Elite Wrestling.  However, even if you’re lucky enough to be a part of one of those, that still doesn’t guarantee success.  Not even if your father was a legend in the business.

In the last few weeks, AEW has let the contracts expire and release two such legacy talents.  First, Brian Pillman, Jr. left the company.  He quickly was signed by WWE and is now in their NXT developmental division.  And now, the news comes of Brock Anderson’s release.  Brock, of course is the son of WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend, Arn Anderson.

Brock is one of our own here in the Queen City.  As a high school linebacker at Providence High School in South Charlotte, Brock Anderson was once ranked as the 24th best prospect at that position in the state.  However, he chose the path of the family business and got his training at the NIghtmare Factory wrestling school run by QT Marshall (also in AEW) and his partner, “Glacier.”

Arn has been an employee of AEW and his son was signed to the organization in 2021.  He had his last appearance on AEW Collision recently where he was defeated by “Luchasaurus.”  No word on what’s next, but of course wish Brock Anderson nothing but the best in pursuit of his wrestling dreams.

Life is all about getting up one more time than your knocked down.  And pro wrestlers know all about getting knocked down.

Working remotely is growing exponentially in popularity and opportunities. While it’s not for me, at least not 100% of the time, many many people are fans. In fact, I know several people who would never consider an office job anymore. And for a lot of people, the new year can mean looking for a new job. If that sounds like you then you’ll want to be aware of the companies hiring most work-at-home employees. If you’re in North Carolina and in the market for a remote job, FlexJobs has released its 10th annual “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs” list.

In the study, they note that between 2021 and 2022, “FlexJobs saw a 20% increase in the number of remote job listings on the site, compared with just 12% the previous year. And with the wider adoption of remote work came more variety in job titles and career levels. While a majority of positions were for experienced-level jobs (62%), manager and senior-level roles claimed 32% of the remote job listings. The remaining 6% of postings were attributed to entry-level jobs.”

So, which companies are hiring the most at-home workers right now? Below you’ll find the top 20 companies for remote jobs. While some are household names, others do more of the behind-the-scenes work. As an employer, Activus Connect is Great Place to Work-certified and employs “remote-based ambassadors” who strive to change lives by deriving “authentic, heartfelt experiences.” In the past, the company has posted full-time, 100% remote jobs in call center, customer service, computer & IT, HR & recruiting operations, and other career areas.”

    Flexjobs writes, “LHH – Lee Hecht Harrison is a management consulting company working to help organizations “see the possibilities in their people.” As an employer, LHH values supporting flexible work arrangements for its team members and has posted both employment and freelance jobs with part-time or full-time scheduling and 100% or hybrid remote availability, depending on the position.     Working Solutions takes the Silver! Their description on Flexjobs states that, “Working Solutions is a provider of on-demand sales and customer service agents who work from home. An “on-demand workforce expert,” the company believes that flexible work arrangements translate to decreased overhead expenses, “a borderless recruiting pool,” and more focused and productive team members.”

    And the best company for remote jobs is Liveops! Liveops is a virtual call center offering on-demand virtual agents for enterprise sales and customer service needs. Fully remote, hybrid, and freelance opportunities at Liveops provide “unparalleled flexibility and work-life balance.” per Flexjobs.
