I imagine this is an ice cream store owners worst nightmare. You come in after a holiday and almost all your ice cream is melted and on the floor. A Wake Forest, North Carolina ice cream shop named Lumpy’s Ice Cream knows the feeling all too well.
They recently lost 700 gallons of ice cream due to equipment failures. According to CBS 17.com. owner Buck Buchanan was afraid his business would never recover. But then the community stepped in to help. Not only the residents of the community but other cream cream shops pitched in to help him recover by promoting a go fund me page. Customers came in droves to support Lumpy’s.
Owner Buck says he estimates the financial loss at over $100,000. Customers are making up the loss by pouring into the ice cream store with $10s, $20s and #30s. Buchanan’s tells the television station, “The community is just what’s amazing”.“Wake Forest really does care”. He says. With the help of neighbors and the insurance kicking in, looks like Buchanan is going to be just fine. To learn more get details right here from our source, CBS 17.com.
Think You've Tried "Everything?" How About Everything Bagel Ice Cream
Jeni’s Everything Bagel Ice Cream is back. After dividing the internet last year the flavor makes its much-anticipated return on March 21. Everything Bagel sold out so fast last year that most didn’t get a chance to try it but it’s only available this year while supplies last. But the demand is still there. Since it’s debut it’s been Jeni’s been our most requested, most-searched-for flavor. This time, Jeni’s wants to give everyone a chance to snag a spoonful and weigh in on what they think.
You can argue whether or not this flavor should exist and without trying it I have my doubts! But those who have tasted it say you can’t dispute that it tastes exactly like an everything bagel. Which I do love, a lot. Dense, salty, barely sweet cream cheese ice cream with a buttery streusel (made from scratch in Jeni’s Columbus kitchen) laden with sesame, poppy seeds, onions, and garlic. While I’ve been known to put the Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel seasoning on borderline everything, I’m not sold on this. But I’m intrigued enough to try it for sure. They say Everything Bagel has the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory—and is just plain delicious.
Jeni’s said that the flavor wasn’t created for shock value. The attention and divide actually surprised them. Actually, pairing everything bagel seasoning with ice cream has been done at Jeni’s for years. Everything bagel gravel (or streusel) was first available in scoop shops as a topping in the summer of 2013. In fact, there is even a recipe for that same gravel in the 2014 cookbook, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream Desserts. So creating a flavor featuring the seasonings was an obvious move for the company.
