This often overlooked beach offers the clearest ocean views in North Carolina. I don’t know about you but I am about ready for some vitamin sea. We go to the usual beaches in the Tar Heel State. Holden Beach is a favorite along with Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle never disappoints. But where are the clearest ocean views in North Carolina?
According to our source, panamajack.com, you will find some of the clearest water in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. I have a friend that always goes to this area on vacation and she has long regaled us about the beautiful water there. And apparently that is true. You will find it on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast. The website says Emerald Isle has “some of the state’s clearest waters and whitest sand making for some seriously stunning sunsets”. It’s all about the white sand, clear water and stunning sunsets for my family.
Apparently there is some great snorkeling and diving in the area as well. It is near the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” and that is a great place for wreck diving. According to panamajack.com, “Underwater explorers here will have a blast diving down to discover shipwrecks from decades gone by while also swimming alongside some beautiful Gulf stream fish and even the Portuguese Man-of-war”. I will keep my distance from that Man-of-war thank you very much. I had a close encounter with one of those things before and it was not pretty.
This often overlooked beach offers the clearest ocean views in North Carolina. Other picturesque beaches along the North Carolina coast includes Topsail Island featuring 26 miles of pristine coastline. Bald Head Island also made the list. You can find it on the east side of the Cape Fear River. You can only get around via golf cart in many areas of Bald Head Island.

And luckily for you, our friends over at BetCarolina.com sent us research on which North Carolina beach towns fit that description!
Even growing up in North Carolina I have always more frequently visited South Carolina beaches. Though in the last 10 years or so I’ve spent some time at a couple of Wilmington area beaches that both made this list. Many are on the Outer Banks, which is on my list but why do they all have to be so long of a drive? I can be in the Myrtle area in 3 hours so 5-6 is hard to justify! But with so many publications raving about the area, eventually, I’ll have to cave!
To compile this list they consulted US News & World Report data on the Best North Carolina beaches, then utilized Google Search data to determine which of these beaches have the most interest from North Carolinians. So scroll through the list, do some research, and then grab your beach chair and your bathing suit. We are just days away from Memorial Day Weekend the official kick-off of summer. It’s time to plan that beach trip you’ll remember forever. You can read Bet Carolina’s full report here or keep reading to see which towns made the list and what makes them so great!
