North Carolina Arena Ranks No. 1 For Concessions
At this North Carolina arena, concessions ranked number 1. And let’s face it. It’s hard to impress when it comes to arena/venue/stadium concessions. Because no matter how good the food is, it almost always is overpriced making it not worth the money in my opinion. I’ve been to concert venues, arenas, and football stadiums all across the country. And I can honestly say only one has ever stood out to me when it comes to concessions.
This study this number one ranking is coming from was conducted by OLBG.com. It looked at the best professional hockey arenas when it comes to concessions. And according to this, the Carolina Hurricanes’ PNC Arena is “the best hockey venue for foodies.”
Arena Concessions
While I’m personally far from a hockey fan, I’ve attended a few Carolina Hurricanes’ games. I’ve also been to PNC Arena, located in Raleigh, countless times for NC State Men’s Basketball games as well as concerts throughout the years. Listen I love that arena. But I can’t recall anything personally that makes it “the best” when it comes to concessions, whether that is in NC or the country.
So what factored into this ranking? Well according to OLBG.com, PNC Arena has more concession stands than any other NHL franchise with 90. (I can believe that). They also reportedly have the NHL’s most affordable hotdogs ($4.50) and almost the cheapest beer averaging $10. (The fact that $10 is “affordable” for beer is ridiculous but this is better than $17 beers at many other places).
I typically don’t eat full meals from arena concessions as I don’t want to pay exorbitant prices for often mediocre food. I think the last time I ate at PNC Arena, I had Shake Shack so it was a solid choice. I don’t recall the difference in the prices between the arena and a stand-alone version of the restaurant.
I’ve certainly eaten my fair share of snacks, typically popcorn, there. And have had a few drinks in my time as well. Overall I have no complaints about the arena concessions. That being said, the best of the best at any sort of venue I’ve been to? It’s hands down Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
I’ve read that there was a conscious effort to keep costs down from Arthur Blank the owner of the Atlanta Falcons. And both times I’ve attended concerts there, I’ve been thoroughly impressed. Chain restaurant offerings for comparable prices at other locations, specialty cocktails for $10, and water for $2 or $3.
