Watch This Guy Make An Anvil Float
You wouldn’t think that a 250-pound steel anvil would float, but in a video posted by Reddit user u/m3antar, the heavy blacksmithing tool does just that when placed in a container of mercury.
The surprising video demonstrates that mercury is more dense than steel, forcing the steel to float.
Mercury is the only metallic element that is liquid at room temperature. It should also be noted that mercury is extremely dangerous if not handled properly. Just inhaling mercury vapor can cause poisoning.
