Alligator Enjoys The Surf In Oak Island, NC
It’s a dolphin…it’s a shark… Nope, look again!
Local islander, Katy Sykes, says to ABC11 the gator was about five feet long and didn’t pose a threat to anyone around it.
She noted, “I watched it for over an hour. It really seemed to be relaxing and enjoying the waves. The bugs can get really terrible this time of year in the marsh, so, it was probably getting washed off.”
The Oak Island Police Department posted tips on social media after getting several calls for alligator sightings on the island.
Some of those tips including:
- Do not feed the alligator no matter what size it is
- Do not throw food into waters where alligators may be found
- Do not harass or provoke any alligator
- Be particularly cautious between dusk and dawn when alligators are most active
