Berkeley, CA Is The First City In The US To Ban This At Grocery Stores
Do you think this could happen in the Carolina’s
Berkeley, California will soon have another first. They will soon become the first city in the nation to ban junk food in your grocery store checkout line.
The Berkeley City Council recently passed the “healthy checkout” ordinance.
Starting in March next year grocery stores in Berkeley will be prohibited from selling food and beverages deemed unhealthy in a 3-foot radius from the checkout.
Co-sponsor of the ordinance Councilmember Kate Harrison told FOX Business.“It’s not really a ban, it’s a nudge,” “What we have discovered is that this law enforces good behavioral economics and facilitates better choices.”
Would you like to see this happen here? Is this overreach? I guess they think you are not responsible enough to make your own decision.
